Logistics & Distribution

Peak Demand Support

Peak periods expose whatever slack an operation does not have. Emprise plans additional workforce around forecast volumes, agreeing ramp-up dates, shift patterns and team structures in advance, then scaling back in a controlled way so cost follows demand rather than lagging behind it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should peak workforce be planned?

The earlier the better. Planning several months ahead gives time to recruit, screen and brief workers properly, and to build a realistic ramp-up profile. Late requirements can still be supported, but the available pool is smaller and lead times are longer.

Can workforce numbers reduce after peak?

Yes. Ramp-down is planned alongside ramp-up so numbers reduce in a controlled sequence as volumes fall, with notice arrangements agreed in advance for both sides.

How do you maintain standards when numbers grow quickly?

Briefing and induction capacity is planned as part of the ramp-up, not treated as an afterthought. Where volumes are large, supervised team structures help maintain consistency while new workers settle into the operation.

Can peak teams be supervised by Emprise?

Managed teams with our own supervision are available, which is often preferred during peak when a client's own management structure is already stretched across extended operating hours.

Which operations most often need peak support?

Fulfilment, grocery and retail distribution, parcel and sortation operations, and manufacturers running promotional volumes typically see the sharpest peaks, particularly around seasonal trading events.
