Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does a goods-in operative do?

A goods-in operative receives incoming deliveries, checks quantities and condition against paperwork or system records, books stock in, labels and repalletises where needed, and puts stock away into locations. Discrepancies and damage are recorded at receipt so stock records stay accurate.

Can goods-in teams work to booking schedules?

Yes. Inbound teams are resourced around the delivery booking schedule so vehicles are processed within their slots, including early starts where inbound arrives before the main shift.

Do operatives use warehouse management systems?

Booking-in normally involves the site's WMS or ERP. We select workers with relevant experience where possible, and the client's system training is included in the induction before they work unsupervised.

How are discrepancies handled?

Discrepancies are recorded against the delivery and escalated through the route agreed with the site, typically to a goods-in supervisor or stock controller, so claims and supplier queries can be raised with evidence.

Can goods-in support be combined with put-away and loading?

Frequently, yes. Inbound work is often resourced together with put-away, replenishment and loading so a single team can be flexed across the inbound and outbound cycle through the shift.
